Donora Towers Acquired

Heritage Housing, Inc. continued its busy fall with the acquisition of Donora Towers, a 103-unit senior Section 8 property in Donora, PA (the Home of Champions). Donora, PA is a small city in the “Mon Valley” region of Pennsylvania, about an hour south of Pittsburgh. It is best known for the infamous Donora Smog event in 1948, which was one of the worst air pollution events in American history, and as the birthplace of Stan Musial, Ken Griffey and Ken Griffey, Jr.

Donora Towers was built in 1979 and is in need of renovations, due to its age and many original systems. We are working with PHFA on renovation financing including LIHTCs, tax-exempt bond financing and a PHARE loan. We are also planning to relocate the Donora Senior Center into a 2,000-square foot retail space within the building in early 2020. Please stay posted for more updates in 2020!
